Gaddi Palace

Gaddi Palace

Residence of the noble Gaddi family, the palace features a medieval structure with a documented late-16th century phase and dates back the to first years of the 18th century. The grand staircase is dominated by a baroque statue of Abundance by G.M.Mazza; the fresco on the vault depicting Aurora is by F.Mancini. On the ground floor, the old chapel decorated in 1750 by A. Zaccarini is still preserved. In 1818, Count Antonio Gaddi commissioned the transformation of the South-East wing to Forlì architect Giuseppe Missirini and the decoration of the entertainment rooms to Felice Giani who, one year later, painted a fine pictorial cycle (rooms of Augustus, Theseus and Hercules). Missirini also realized an elegant family-chapel artfully decorated with stuccowork.
