Bibliographical consulting
The Library guides users in the use of bibliographic research tools on their own. The librarian provides assistance and advice in the selection and retrieval of documentary and informational material through the Scoprirete catalogue.
The Library also provides support for more in-depth bibliographical research and provides access to other external catalogs and databases.

Consultation and study in the library
The consultation of the bibliographical and documentary heritage of the Libraries can take place directly and immediately by the user.
The library staff is committed to providing the widest possible assistance to users for bibliographical and catalog searches and to delivering the requested material, for consultation on the premises, as quickly as possible.
In the library it is possible to use the study rooms also with personal books.
Book Loan
It is possible for citizens to borrow books, DVDs and other materials in the library. By connecting to the online Scoprirete catalogue you can check the material owned by the library and its availability.
Borrowing is open to all those who request it and are in possession of the card of the Romagna and San Marino Library Network. Registration available for:
- residents of the provinces of Romagna (Forlì-Cesena, Ravenna, Rimini), of the Republic of San Marino and of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino.
- students of the Polo Universitario Romagnolo domiciled in the Province of Forlì-Cesena
- those who reside permanently in Forlì for work purposes.
Registration is free.
It is possible to borrow 10 books at a time for a maximum of 31 days, renewable for 15 days only.
It is also possible to borrow 6 DVDs at a time for a maximum of 8 days.
The service is completely free of charge.
Inter-library loan
This is the possibility of requesting volumes available in other Italian or foreign libraries or reproductions of materials not allowed to be borrowed.
Interlibrary loan is subject to payment. For the modalities of request and the fees, see the Library's Services Charter.

Loans for exhibitions and displays
This is the loan of ancient, rare and valuable materials from the ancient and historical collections of the "A. Saffi" Municipal Library and the Piancastelli collections for exhibitions and cultural events.
The loan is subject to the prior approval of the Head of the Antique and Ancient Collections, Manuscripts and Piancastelli Collection Unit, of the Archival Superintendence of Emilia-Romagna, which is followed by the formalization of the authorization with a decision of the Director of the Library and Piancastelli Collection Service.
The following may apply: public bodies, cultural institutes, foundations, art galleries and museums, cultural associations.
The application must be submitted on headed paper of the Institution or Association with an attached technical sheet regarding the exhibition project and the location of the event (Facility Report).
The request must be submitted at least 4 months in advance.
An insurance policy (to be paid by the applicant) for the transfer of materials is mandatory.
Reproduction of documents
It is possible to photocopy materials owned by the Library, with the exception of manuscripts, rare and valuable volumes, large formats, newspapers and periodicals, in compliance with IFLA regulations and with the provisions in force concerning the care and treatment of library materials and copyright.
For the reproduction of valuable material, the Library has a book scanner and a special digital equipment which allows reproduction on paper or CD ROM according to professional standards. Requests for reproductions should be made on the appropriate form or via email to saffi.antichi@comune.forli.fc.it, specifying how the material will be used and committing to donate a copy of the publication, essay or dissertation to the Library.

Book-scanner reproductions are made within 10 days of request. Photocopies are usually made on the same day, except for particularly complex works for which the date will be agreed upon with the librarian in charge of the service.
